PhD Qualifying Examination "Location-Based Plan Recognition" By Mr. Xiaoyong Chai Abstract: Recognition and prediction of high-level intentions and complex behaviors from low-level sensory data are important to many applications. One central theme in pervasive computing is to provide appropriate location-based assistance to a user based on his/her intended plan of actions. In this survey, we aim to develop the representation and reasoning techniques to enable the automatic recognition and prediction of mobile-users' plans and actions in a pervasive computing environment. The problem of so-called location-based plan recognition will be formulated and different aspects of building such a user behavior model will be discussed.
