Abstract:

An emerging trend in the internet industry is to create intelligent
systems based on big data machine learning. In order to make significant
progress in machine intelligence, in recent years a new generation of
machine learning systems have been created to learn from data so large
that traditional approaches would fail. This industrial trend has created
great demands for developing machine learning platforms that can handle
very big data under the distributed computing environment. In this talk, I
will present a large scale machine learning system called PULSAR, which we
developed at Baidu, and has already been used by many product lines. We
will describe the system design, as well as advanced machine learning
algorithms we have deployed to make large scale machine learning possible
in practice.
