The CSE Mentorship Programme 2015

Objective

The 1-year mentorship programme aims at establishing connections between students and alumni. The programme will be of mutual benefit to both parties. While alumni will receive a formal life coaching before acting as mentors to share their fruitful work and life experience, students and recent graduates will gain the opportunity to better understand the current state of the industry, broaden their horizons and be more prepared for their future life and career.

Most of our mentors are graduates in Computer Science or related programmes at HKUST. They are now working as consultant, entrepreneur, IT sales professional, medical physicist, online marketing manager, researcher, teacher in IT-related subjects, software developer and software architect, among others. Some of the mentors have been affiliated with lists of well-known companies and organizations, including but not limited to Accenture, Deloitte, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, PwC and the Hong Kong Government.

Great stories in Mentorship Programme 2014

Wong Kwok Wai (Rex)
CPEG Year-3 student in Spring 2014

The mentorship program was beneficial for both students and alumni. We heard and learnt from new updates and shared our joyful moments. The conversation was carried in a respectful way with the support from both mentors and mentees.

PUSPITO Edbert Eddie (Lance) COMP Year-2 student
CPEG Year-2 student in Spring 2014

I learnt a lot about the working environment of the IT department of an investment bank. He also supported my team to participate in Hackathon@HKUST, and provided me insights to further develop the prototype after the competition.
