| | HKUST Firebird CTF Competition 2024 | | | | With the recent exploitation cases happened in the Cyberport and the consumer council, the IT industry is starting to get more alerted about cybersecurity issues. Cybersecurity has became an increasingly important concern of the industry. To help foster the development of practical Cybersecurity skills and to increase technical collaboration among Hong Kong tertiary institutions, the Computer science department of HKUST and the HKUST Firebird cybersecurity competition team are proud to announce the HKUST Firebird CTF Competition 2024 that will happen in late January 2024. This competition provides the students an excellent chance to solve practical Cybersecurity challenges through a 36-hour Online Jeopardy style Capture-The-Flag (CTF) competition. The prizes for this competition is extremely generous, the winning team can receive up to 10,000 HKD prize in cash! This is probably the first competition of its kind that is open to all students from Hong Kong Tertiary Institutions. | | | | | Competition Format The competition will be online and will be conducted in the jeopardy style. The questions will include (but not limited to) the following topics: Binary Exploitations, Reverse Engineering, Web Exploitations, Cryptography, Computer Forensics and Miscellaneous. - Eligibility: All full-time students who are studying Diploma, Higher Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Hong Kong tertiary institutions (UGC-funded universities, self-funded institutions, public institutions, sub-degree institutions).
- Team Size: Each team should have at least one student and at most four students.
- Precautions: Any cheating behaviors or attacking the competition server will result in disqualification.
(During the competition) Any communication between different teams regarding the competition tasks (including flag or idea sharing) during the competition is forbidden. (After the competition) The top 10 teams are required to submit selected write-ups to the host within 24 hours after the competition has ended. Teams that have failed to send the write-ups in time will not be eligible to be ranked and receive the awards.
