"Expertise Location System"

Abstract

Finding appropriate persons to consult with is always difficult in
reality. This research tries to focus on this issue based on technical
papers as an expertise indicator. We first review and analyse the existing
systems in this domain. Then we present our approach, which incorporates
information retrieval techniques for expertise location. We also use
referral information (relation ontology) to get more meaningful results,
since personal contacts play an important role in the real world. In
addition, since automatic expert categorization can help a user locate an
expert, an expertise directory is generated based on pre-defined expertise
category.
