PhD Thesis Proposal Defence "3D Structure Computation from Multiple Views" by Mr. Yichen Wei Abstract: Image based 3D reconstruction is a fundamental problem in computer vision. We study the problem of 3D geometric structure recovery from multiple images taken from different viewpoints about the same scene. We present our work for several problems in different stages of a 3D reconstruction process, including camera motion estimation, depth map computation (which is also considered as 2.5D reconstruction) and 3D geometry reconstruction, specifically for hair modeling. All approaches are demonstrated on various real examples.
