This series takes place in the year 2356, 189 years after a supernova's
shock-wave hits the earth and nearly eradicates every living thing.
Stellvia is a space station, the 2nd of six "foundations" which are
distributed around planets in the solar system with the goal of
protecting the planets (including Earth) from a 2nd wave bearing down
on them. Later in the series, the second wave also leaves a rip in the
universe ('Cosmic Fracture') that the cadets of Stellvia will have to
combat along with some UFOs.The main character, Shima, is a programming genius (and complete
klutz). She along with Arisa and her other friends, tough their way
through the academy and life as they prepare for the missions.This series has a marvelous intro and closing song plus a nice mix of
animation with CGI that doesn't let the CGI make the series too glossy
(like is problematic with series such as IGPX). It's definitely a
series for any age...lighthearted and fun.
