WELCOME TO THE DEMONSTRATION SYSTEM
This Demonstration System aims to illustrate different kinds of data dependencies and their applications in databases. A simplified Banking Enterprise example is used here for the illustration.
Some major requirements for the banking enterprise:
The bank is organized into branches. Each branch is located in a particular city and is identified by a unique name. The bank monitors the assets of each branch.
Bank customers are identified by their unique ID. The bank stores customer's ID, name and the street and city where the customer lives. Customers may have accounts, and can take out loans. A customer may be associated with a particular banker, who may act as a financial advisor for the customer.
Bankers are also identified by their unique ID. The bank administration stores the name and email address of each employee, for the communication with customers.
A customer can have more than one account and also more than one credit-card. Each account is assigned a unique account number. The bank maintains a record of each account’s balance. Each credit-card is assigned a unique credit-card-number, a record of the limit and expiry-date is also maintained by the system.
A customer can hold one or more loans originated at a particular branch. A loan is identified by a unique loan number. And for each loan, the bank keeps track of the loan amount .
Detailed Information:
In our system, all established well-known data dependencies are included here. Users are guided to use the DDs and inference rules to derive new DDs .
