Prof. Fred Lochovsky officially retired from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2014, although he remains a Visiting Professor in the department and has no real sign of retiring. In the 40 years of his career, Fred was a pioneer in database research. An educator and researcher, Fred was one of the pioneers of the Office Information System discipline and coauthored/coedited several popular books on database and data modeling. This workshop honors Fred's contributions to the area and provides a venue for his colleagues and students, past and recent, to gather, reconnect and celebrate.
