Dr. Qifeng Chen Receives 100 Young Pioneers in AI Award
Dr. Qifeng Chen, Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was recently presented with a 100 Young Pioneers in AI Award issued by the MIT Technology Review China and DeepTech.
About the Award
The "100 Young Pioneers" is an authoritative ranking jointly initiated by MIT Technology Review China and DeepTech, aimed at identifying and honoring the most promising young leaders under the age of 40 in China’s artificial intelligence (AI) sector. The selection criteria emphasize core dimensions such as technological innovation, industrial application, and societal impact. A rigorous evaluation process conducted by over 20 distinguished experts recognizes a new generation of scientists and entrepreneurs who have made outstanding contributions to foundational AI research, industry implementation, and interdisciplinary advancements.
The 2025 cohort features 65 exceptional young pioneers across cutting-edge fields, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, AI for Science (AI4Science), and embodied intelligence. Among them are scholars from leading universities and research institutions, as well as industry representatives driving real-world technological adoption. This initiative not only showcases the innovative capabilities of China’s young AI talents but also underscores the nation’s rising prominence in the global AI competitive landscape.
The inaugural "100 Young Pioneers" selection has identified 65 outstanding young innovators across China, with Beijing claiming the highest proportion at 33 honorees. Regional distribution shows Shanghai following with 10 awardees, Hong Kong with 6, while Hangzhou and Shenzhen each contribute 4 pioneers. The remaining 8 recipients are distributed across other provinces.
Congratulations to Dr. Qifeng Chen for this outstanding achievement!
