HKUST Firebird Team Members Won Championship (金灣獎) and First Runner-up (銀灣獎) in the Bay Area Cup – Hong Kong Macao District (灣區杯 - 港澳賽區)

We are pleased to announce that the HKUST Firebird Cybersecurity Competition Team from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has recently won the Championship (金灣獎) and First Runner-up (銀灣獎) in the Bay Area Cup — Hong Kong Macao District (灣區杯 - 港澳賽區). This nation-level tournament was jointly organized by the Guangdong Provincial Cyberspace Administration, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, the Guangdong Provincial Education Department, and the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League. It was co-hosted by China Telecom Guangdong Branch and the Guangdong Provincial Computer Information Network Security Association.

About the Bay Area Cup (灣區杯)

The Bay Area Cup (灣區杯) is a national-level competition focused on real-world cybersecurity challenges. It aims to identify cybersecurity professionals through professional competition, cultivate the Honker (紅客) culture, and provide strong talent support for strengthening cybersecurity defenses. Building on the strengths of previous events like the Red Hat Cup (紅帽杯), this competition further emphasizes collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao, and nationwide reach. Focusing on security issues in cutting-edge fields such as the low-altitude economy, artificial intelligence, mobile internet, connected vehicles, industrial internet, and blockchain, it strives to create a practical cybersecurity training ground, providing a platform for cybersecurity practitioners, technology enthusiasts, college students, and young people from across the country to showcase themselves, hone their skills, and exchange technical expertise.
