Dr. Xiaojuan MA Received Honourable Mentions Award at CHI 2020

Dr. Xiaojuan MA received the Honourable Mentions award at ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems 2020 (CHI 2020) with her paper titled "Getting the Healthcare We Want: The Use of Online "Ask the Doctor" Platforms in Practice" collaborated with other researchers.

In their paper, they presented an interview study with 12 patients/caregivers who had experience using online Ask the Doctor (AtD) in China, highlighting patient agency in seeking more reliable and cost-effective healthcare beyond clinic settings. They illustrated how the interviewees made strategic choices online on AtD platforms, and how they strategically integrate online and offline services together for healthcare. Their paper contributed an empirical study of the use of large-scale AtD platforms in practice, demonstrated patient agency for healthcare beyond clinic settings and recommended design implications for online healthcare services.

CHI is the premier international conference for the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). CHI 2020 was originally scheduled on 25 - 30 April at Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. It was later cancelled due to COVID-19.

Congratulations to Dr. Ma!
