Students from CSE Firebird CTF Team, the COMP 4901N and COMP 4901P Courses Received Gold and Bronze Award at Hong Kong Cyber Security New Generation Capture The Flag Challenge 2021

Two teams formed by CSE Firebird team members and students taking COMP 4901N and COMP 4901P courses received Gold and Bronze Awards (Tertiary Institution Category) respectively in HKCERT Hong Kong Cyber Security New Generation Capture The Flag Challenge 2021 organized by HKPC and HKCERT. The Gold Award winning team included CSE students Tsz Wa CHUNG, Caner DEMIRER, Wing Yin TANG and DSCT student Sheung Chi CHAN (all of them are taking COMP 4901P). The Bronze Award winning team included DSCT student Ka Wong TSOI, SENG students Sin Hang YEUNG, Hau Woon YONG and MATH student Chun Kit HO (all of them are taking COMP 4901N).

The HKCERT Hong Kong Cyber Security New Generation Capture the Flag Challenge 2021 was conducted in Jeopardy-style from 12 to 14 November, with participating teams attempting to solve 55 questions in different categories including cyber security knowledge of cryptography, programming concepts within 48 hours by searching, researching, using different tools and programming approaches. This year, 84 teams were competing in the tertiary category and 5 HKUST teams are ranked in the Top 10.
