Department Name Changed to Computer Science and Engineering

The official name of our Department was changed from the "Department of Computer Science" (計算機科學系) to the "Department of Computer Science and Engineering" (計算機科學及工程學系) with effect from 2 May 2006 in recognition of the comprehensiveness of our educational programs, which are designed to educate professional engineers with expertise in both computer science and engineering. The name can also be consistent with many of our counterparts in first-tier North American universities.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering now offers both Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) undergraduate programs. The new Department name can better reflect the two educational foci of the Department.

With the change of its name, the departmental website has been changed to http://cse.hkust.edu.hk/ and a new Department logo has also been designed.
