Emerging Trends in Software Development Workshop 2023: A Tremendous Success
HKUST's Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) hosted Emerging Trends in Software Development Workshop 2023 on Sept. 22, 2023, and the event was a resounding success. The forum aimed to explore the latest trends in software development and the technologies that make impact to the software industry in Hong Kong and Big Bay Area. Over 70 participants, including esteemed academics, industry partners, alumni, HKUST staff, and students, attended the workshop to exchange novel ideas on latest trends in software development.
The forum featured a lineup of distinguished keynotes speakers, including Prof. Jeff Kramer (Imperial College London), Prof. Carlo Ghezzi (Politecnico di Milano) and Prof. Zhi Jin (Peking University). Their topic include Adaptive Software, Human-Centric Digital Transformation and Complex Embedded Systems. The keynote presentations successfully illuminated new perspectives on software development and its relationship with the broader digital landscape, prompting them to ponder over the challenges and opportunities that come with our rapidly digitizing world.
Adding local perspectives to the global themes of the day, Prof. Shing-Chi Cheung (HKUST), Prof. Michael Lyu (CUHK) and Prof. Yike Guo (HKUST) illuminated new frontiers in the application of large language models, fostering a deeper understanding of their impact and potential in the realm of software development and AI by introducing topic on System Intelligence,including Impact of Large Language and Models Perception Computing to System Intelligence.
The event concluded with a panel discussion, providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and networking, allowing participants to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and build new connections.
