Dr. Hao Chen and Dr. Desmond Tsoi Recognized for Outstanding Achievements in the Fifth Faculty Recognition Ceremony
Dr. Hao Chen, Assistant Professor in CSE, and Dr. Desmond Yau Chat Tsoi, Assistant Professor of Engineering Education in CSE, were honoured at the Fifth Faculty Recognition Ceremony for their exceptional contributions in the academic year 2022-23.
The Fifth HKUST Faculty Recognition Ceremony is designed to acknowledge and applaud our faculty's remarkable understanding of research and teaching achievements during the 2022-23 academic year.
Dr. Hao Chen has been recognized for his achievement of the Asian Young Scientist Fellowship (AYSF) for the year 2023. As the sole awardee from Hong Kong in his discipline, this honor highlights his significant contributions to advancing medical imaging and analysis techniques through machine learning.
Dr. Desmond Tsoi has been recognized the prestigious 2022 Michael G. Gale Medal for Distinguished Teaching. This honour, established by the University Council of HKUST in 1994, is a testament to his constant pursuit of excellence, unwavering devotion to teaching, and innate ability to inspire and motivate others. Additionally, Dr. Tsoi was invited to share his insights during the ceremony. He delivered a thought-provoking talk titled "Maximizing the Student Potential with Project-based Learning and Technology in Education", further emphasizing his innovative approach to teaching.
