HKUST Firebird members achieved runner-up positions at the 8th PwC Hack A Day - Capture The Flag Competition
Two teams from HKUST, composed of Firebird members taking the course COMP 4633, have achieved rewarding results at the 8th PwC Hack A Day - Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. The "Google or Mushroom" team secured the 1st runner-up position, while the "Students Taking Flags United" team earned the 2nd runner-up title. Both teams participated voluntarily in the competition.
The competition, known for attracting top talent, provided a platform for students to showcase their cybersecurity expertise. Participants were tasked with researching, identifying, and executing strategic attacks to capture as many flags as possible within the given timeframe.
This year's theme, "Securing Identity," highlighted the critical importance of protecting personal and digital identities in today's interconnected world. The event saw participation from students across Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand. Alongside the CTF competition, the Hack A Day Cybersecurity Conference offered students a unique opportunity to engage with AI tools, demonstrate their cybersecurity skills, and compete against talented peers.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these teams for their outstanding accomplishments and eagerly anticipate their future endeavors.
