UG Students Won Top Awards in the MATE International ROV Competition 2015
Two CSE undergraduate students, BERAGO Joel Arvin Mendoza and HOANG Long, together with their UST underwater robot team teammates won the Overall Winner Third Place and the Sharkpedo Award in the MATE International ROV Competition held during 25-27 June 2015 in Canada among 26 strong teams from 10 countries or regions. The team worked together to build a robot to demonstrate a total of 25 tasks including science under the ice, subsea pipeline inspection and repair, and offshore oilfield production and maintenance in the heavy wave underwater environment.
