Prof. Gary CHAN Elected as Sigma Xi Fellow
Prof. Gary Shueng Han Chan, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, has been elected as a Sigma Xi Fellow for the 2023 Cohort in recognition of his contributions to enterprises through scientific research. He is the first and only Sigma Xi Fellow outside the Americas since the inaugural fellow cohort in 2020.
The induction ceremony was held in the 2nd Annual International Forum on Research Excellence (IFoRE), November 10-12, 2023, with keynote speaker Professor Frances Arnold, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (2018). The Fellow of Sigma Xi distinction is awarded on a competitive basis to members who have been recognized by their peers. Fellows must be an active member with distinguished service to Sigma Xi and exceptional contributions to the scientific enterprise. Self-nominations are not accepted.
