Best UGTA & PGTA Awards and Academic Excellence Scholarship for 2023-24
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) proudly announces the recipients of the 2023-24 Best Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UGTA) Award, Professor Samuel Chanson Best Postgraduate Teaching Assistant (PGTA) Award, and the Professor Samuel Chanson Academic Excellence Scholarship. These awards recognize the exceptional contributions of teaching assistants and academic excellence among students, highlighting their dedication to enhancing the learning experience at our university.
Best UGTA Award Recipients
Congratulations to Ka Kit LUI for winning the Department of CSE's Best Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UGTA) Award for the academic year 2023/24! The Best UGTA Award celebrates undergraduate teaching assistants who have demonstrated exceptional teaching, dedication, and impact on student learning.
Ka Kit LUI served as the UGTA for the course COMP 2211. He demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment in his role, showing a genuine passion for supporting the entire course. He proactively shared best practices with other teaching assistants (both UGTAs and PGTAs) and exhibited strong interpersonal skills that helped him build positive relationships with students and instructors. His contributions have made a significant impact on student performance and satisfaction.

Professor Samuel Chanson Best PGTA Award Recipients
Congratulations to Adriel Abraham INTAN and Sergei NOVOZHILOV for winning the Professor Samuel Chanson Best PGTA Award for the academic year 2023/24!
Adriel played an essential role in COMP 4321. He carefully prepared and reviewed lab sessions before delivering them via Zoom, provided immediate support to students through a Telegram group of more than 200 members, and responded to questions at all hours. He managed final exam grading for 200 students with efficiency and organized the checking session within just a few days. Patient, professional, and collaborative, he has been highly effective in supporting both students and instructors, fully deserving this recognition.
Sergei served as a teaching assistant for COMP 2711H (Honors Discrete Mathematics) during the Fall semester. His deep subject knowledge, rigorous preparation, and ability to explain complex concepts clearly had a profound impact on students. Beyond grading assignments and conducting tutorials, he created challenging and thought-provoking questions and provided detailed, constructive feedback. His remarkable commitment, academic excellence, and teaching skills made him a standout candidate for the award.

Professor Samuel Chanson Academic Excellence Scholarship
The Professor Samuel Chanson Academic Excellence Scholarship, valued at HK$20,000, is awarded to an undergraduate CSE student who demonstrates outstanding academic performance. The 2023-24 recipient is Hyun Fung KWONG.
