HKUST Firebird Team Members Won Yangcheng Cup Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Cybersecurity Competition
In the Yangcheng Cup Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Cybersecurity Competition, organized by the government of Guangdong province, the team, "One Leg Turkey," comprised of current core members of Firebird, showcased their expertise and determination, securing the 1st runner-up position in the Hong Kong-Macau group. Their success highlights the high level of talent and dedication within the HKUST community. It is worthwhile to mention that the champion of the Hong Kong-Macau group, "Brain Beast," was a team formed by two Firebird core members (and two additional students from the PolyU).
This year's competition saw a remarkable turnout, with 2,085 teams and over 4,000 participants registered. After 24 hours of intense competition in the preliminary round, 90 teams successfully advanced to the finals. The event plays a crucial role in recruiting and training talents in the field of cybersecurity, facilitating technical exchanges, enhancing national cybersecurity capabilities, and raising public awareness about cybersecurity while developing protective skills.
We extend our congratulations to these teams for their outstanding accomplishments and look forward to their future endeavors.
