Biography
Xiaomin Ouyang is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Before joining HKUST, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Networked & Embedded Systems Lab of UCLA, working with Prof. Mani Srivastava. She received her Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2023, advised by Prof. Guoliang Xing, and co-advised by Prof. Jianwei Huang.
Her research interest is building AI-powered mobile and IoT systems, with a primary focus on developing efficient machine learning and sensing systems for smart health applications. She also has extensive experience in deploying real-world IoT systems for monitoring digital biomarkers of Alzheimer's Disease in a clinical trial. She received the ACM MobiSys 2023 Best Paper Award and ACM SIGBED China Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award. She was named one of EECS Rising Stars in 2023 and mHealth Scholars by NIH mHealth Training Institute in 2024.
