Abstract

The development of smart hospital is the direction in Hospital Authority as well as other healthcare institutions globally. The adoption of information technology (IT), digital technology, big data and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure does enable Smart Care. The implementation of new service models and technology can target the treatment, improve health outcomes and safety of patients. Smart Hospital development is the result of the concerted efforts of the Corporate Management and the IT teams to provide the technology-enabled healthcare facilities, like the smart ward, clinic, pharmacy, operating theatre, etc, as well as the frontline staff who are willing to embark on the smart journey. Smart workflow and logistics also enhance the efficiency of staff and reduce their workload. A mobile app called HA Go engages the patients to be more involved in their own health management as a lot of personal health information can be retrieved from the app. Apart from the clinical aspects, the generous use of robots in facility management like environmental cleansing and transportation of various items also alleviates a lot of manual work from the staff.
