Historical Trajectory Data Management

Title: "Historical Trajectory Data Management"

by

Mr. Georgios KELLARIS

Abstract:

Mobile and geo-social networking companies track users on the move to
provide them with accurate location based services and help them connect
with their friends. In particular, these companies archive the successive
locations visited by the users, called trajectories. Due to the complex
nature and volume of trajectory data, their efficient management is
important. Moreover, in order to extract useful knowledge from mobility
data we need effective mining techniques. However, the mining tasks are
often conducted by untrusted third-parties and, hence, user privacy may be
at risk. In this survey, we review the literature on managing trajectory
data, such as querying, indexing and compression, along with the proposed
mining tasks. Finally, we present current methods for publishing
trajectory data while preserving the user privacy.
