A Survey on Software Engineering Research in Smart Contracts

PhD Qualifying Examination

Title: "A Survey on Software Engineering Research in Smart Contracts"

by

Mr. Seyed Hesamoddin SHAHROKHI

Abstract:

Smart contract is a computer program running on a blockchain, i.e. a network of
distributed nodes. Ethereum is the first and most well-known platform for
implementation and execution of smart contracts. These contracts have a
substantial number of assets, and any execution problem may result in great
capital loss. Hence, it is very important to design, code, and execute them
correctly. This survey systematically reviewed the literature on digital
currencies and smart contracts with an emphasis on the Ethereum platform. Goal
of this survey is to analyze the software research that smart contract
researchers have tried to address. Finally, some possible research directions
are suggested for future studies.
