PhD Qualifying Examination

Title: "A Survey on Human-Centered Contactless Sensing"

by

Mr. Linfei GE

Abstract:

With the purpose of making human life better, Human-centered sensing is
developed fast in recent years. Traditional sensing methods require people to
wear some smart devices which cause inconvenient, while some camera-based
sensing systems will raise privacy concerns. Thus, contactless sensing systems
based on wireless signals, including RF signals and acoustic signals become
more and more popular.

In this survey, we will give an overview of human-centered contactless sensing
systems. We first introduce the background and necessary preliminaries. Then we
will give a detailed review categorized by different applications, including
Motion Tracking and Localization, Gesture recognition, Activity recognition,
Vital Sign Monitoring, Imaging, and Authentication. Finally, we give a possible
direction and conclusion.
