Abstract

As part of Mixed Reality, Augmented Virtual Environment (AVE) fuses dynamic
imagery with 3D models in real-time display to augment the virtual environment.
With the recent advances in geographical data collection and 3D reconstruction
technologies, the reconstructed 3D model data grows rapidly, which inspires the
development of many novel interactive AVE visualization systems. This thesis
presents a visualization system which is based on an AVE visualization
framework on web platform, for video fusion with large-scale reconstructed 3D
models. Video stream information can be combined in 3D models through
projection to be visualized in real-time, so that the combined effective
information of video and 3D model can be perceived by the viewers from
arbitrary views. The resulting visualization illustrates the effects of the
combination of video and 3D model information, and it can be useful for public
security management, transportation surveillance etc.
