A Survey of Deep Learning for 3D Segmentation

PhD Qualifying Examination

Title: "A Survey of Deep Learning for 3D Segmentation"

by

Mr. Tuan Anh VU

Abstract:

Several applications of point cloud learning have been identified recently,
such as autonomous driving, computer vision, and robotics. As the dominant
technique in artificial intelligence, deep learning has been successfully used
to solve a variety of 2D vision problems. However, due to the unique challenges
of processing point clouds with deep neural networks, deep learning on point
clouds is still in its early stages. Deep learning on point clouds has grown in
popularity in recent years, with numerous methods proposed to address various
problems in this area. This survey provides a comprehensive review of recent
advances in deep learning methods for point cloud segmentation, which can be
used to inspire future research.
