Title: "A survey on 3G/4G cellular network optimization: measurements and solutions"

by

Mr. Yi ZHANG

Abstract:

The emerging 3G/4G cellular networks are providing fast and flexible access to
the Internet for our daily life. However, some flaws, e.g., inefficient energy
utilization, imperfect network performance, are also brought along which are
motivating researchers and network operators to make improvements. In this
article, we present a comprehensive survey of measurements and solutions for
3G/4G cellular network optimization. First, we provide a brief introduction of
3G/4G cellular networks as background. Along with it, we summarize famous
measurements for 3G/4G cellular networks and demonstrate urgent issues focusing
on two aspects: energy issues and performance issues. Then, we detail the
corresponding solutions with a comprehensive analysis of their metrics,
implementations and results. Lastly, we discuss and elaborate future research
opportunities.
