Abstract:

This survey reviews research on Twitter data based application. The popularity 
and openness of Twitter make this topic quite hot in both information retrieval 
research area and IT industry. Different to the traditional document sets, the 
high volume, short length, unstructured and streaming nature of Twitter brings 
new opportunity and challenges to this task. In this survey, we focus on issues 
related to tweets recommendation, Twitter search, sentimental analysis, user 
study and information diffusion, event detection and tracking, low quality 
content filtering. We also review approaches on cross domain study which focus 
on solving problems in other study area by using Twitter data.
