Title: "A SURVEY ON AUGMENTED REALITY-ENHANCED PAPER AS INFORMATION MEDIUM"

by

Mr. Feng HAN

Abstract:

Paper products, as important information medium, are becoming increasingly
useful and powerful with the advancement of digitalization technology,
particularly Augmented Reality (AR). As an emerging technology in recent
decades, AR has demonstrated its great potentials in many traditional
industries, such as entertainment, education, construction design and data
visualization. However, there still lacks a comprehensive understanding of
how the capabilities of paper can be enhanced with AR techniques. We thus
summarize related studies on AR-Enhanced Paper products from
Human-Computer Interaction community and provide a comparison of different
dimensions along which paper products can be further enhanced as
information medium. The goal of this survey is to provide researchers and
designers with a method to systematically identify design opportunities
for AR-Enhanced Paper.

The survey starts with an introduction to the concept and research
background of augmented reality. Efforts towards a summary of design
paradigms are categorized into 12 dimensions that AR can enhance paper.
The survey ends with a discussion about the challenges and future research
opportunities of augmented reality to enhance paper as information medium.
