Abstract:

Healthcare is an imperative key field of research, where individuals or
groups can be engaged in the self-tracking of any biological, physical,
behavioral, or environmental information. In recent years, with the
development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, its rich sensing
modalities, and ubiquitous sensing ability make healthcare more and more
intelligent, automated and personalized. Sensor-based smart health
technology mainly focuses on several aspects, including novel forms of
sensing devices, effective signal processing technologies, and machine
learning algorithms for different applications. In this survey, we
summarize the smart health application in recent years and roughly
classify them into four categories based on the type of health information
they monitor. For each category, we introduce the critical contribution of
each research and summarize the research gaps for each research topic. At
the end of this survey, we discuss the future research directions and
conclude this survey.
