Abstract:

In recent years, the aging of society has intensified, resulting an
increasing population of neurological diseases and chronic diseases among
the elderly. The increasing burden of medical resources has driven
researchers to think about how to facilitate comprehensive long-term
disease management in home scenarios. Although this is challenging, with
the developments of IoT (Internet of Things) witnessed in recent years,
its rich sensing modalities and ubiquitous sensing ability show a
promising potential for in-home disease management, including novel forms
of sensing devices, effective signal processing technologies, and machine
learning algorithms for different applications. In this survey,
application on in-home disease management in recent years are review and
classified into two categories: disease assessment and disease
intervention. For each category, we introduce the critical contribution of
each research and summarize the research gaps for each research topic. At
the end of this survey, we draw a conclusion of this survey and point out
the future research directions.
