A Survey of Human-AI Collaboration Systems for Scientific Discovery
PhD Qualifying Examination
Title: "A Survey of Human-AI Collaboration Systems for Scientific Discovery"
by
Mr. Junze LI
Abstract:
Scientific discovery is a complex and iterative process that involves
formulating hypotheses, testing with experiments, and analyzing the results.
With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), especially large language models
(LLMs), there is a growing interest in how AI techniques aligned with human
values could be used to enhance each stage of the scientific discovery process.
In this survey, we investigate the potential of human-AI collaboration systems
in scientific discovery and explore their benefits and challenges. We will
review existing literature on AI-assisted research and human insights on using
collaboration systems in each stage of scientific discovery. Our survey will
shed light on the feasibility and effectiveness of using human-AI collaboration
systems to accelerate scientific discovery and provide recommendations for
future development and implementation. Ultimately, our research aims to
contribute to the ongoing discussion on how AI can be integrated into
scientific research to foster innovation and discovery.
