Abstract

Human world is wonderful with the ability to visually perceive the environment.
The beauty of what we see augments with the increasing dimension in visibility.
In a single time frame, opaque materials offer the outermost layer of the
objects, yet translucency materials additionally show inner structures and thus
contribute more to the information carried. Besides the innate translucent
property of the objects, we can also explore the possibility of presenting
different time temporal within one single time frame.

For this thesis, we focus on the multiple visibility techniques in both spatial
and temporal dimension.

Spatial visibility, or in more specific area of visibility ordering, will
propose two novel schema for real-time rendering of static 3D models
front-to-back or back-to-front related to any viewpoint. Both methods are
significant departure from previous work and are extremely faster in run-time
than other work. We conclude by demonstrating the real-time rendering of
order-independent transparency effects.

Temporal visibility will propose a new media visualization format - as named
Replates, to experience replays of video clips, especially for sporting events.
In the same time frame, we are able to combine the different time snapshots
into a single view frame, meanwhile reserve maximally the temporal continuity
and emphasize on the outstanding events.
