A Survey on Spatial Keyword Query
PhD Qualifying Examination
Title: "A Survey on Spatial Keyword Query"
by
Mr. Kai Ho CHAN
Abstract:
With the proliferation of spatial-textual data such as location-based services
and geo-tagged websites, spatial keyword queries are ubiquitous in real life.
At the same time, the web is increasingly being accessed by mobile users, which
allows the users' geo-positioning. As a result, the spatial keyword queries
received a lot of attention and become more and more popular. It is also being
supported in many real-life applications. A number of studies had already been
proposed in the literature and proposed different variations of spatial keyword
queries. Some examples are Boolean kNN Query and Top-k kNN Query. A traditional
spatial keyword query takes a location and a set of keywords as arguments and
returns relevant objects that matches the arguments.
Recently, considerable research has been conducted on the object set-oriented
spatial keyword queries in the community of spatial databases. Some examples
are Collective Spatial Keyword Query, mCK Query and Group-based Collective
Keyword Query. These queries aim to find a set of multiple objects that
collectively satisfy the query. In this survey, we first review different
variants of traditional spatial keyword queries. We then study Collective
Spatial Keyword Query. Besides, some different object set-oriented spatial
keyword queries are introduced. Finally, we conclude this survey by giving some
future research directions related to object set-oriented keyword queries.
