Title: "A Survey in Computational Politics"

Abstract:

Computational Politics is the study of computational methods to analyze and
moderate users behaviors related to political activities. These activities
include election campaign persuasion, political affiliation and opinion mining.
With the rapid development and ease of access, Information Communication
Technologies(ICT) have given rise to the number of users joining the online
communities and digitization of analogous data such as political debates. All
these sources contain both explicit and latent information about the users and
their behavior related to the politics. For researchers it is important to
utilize data from these sources to develop and design systems that do not only
provide solutions to computational politics but also help other businesses,
such as marketers, to increase the users’ participation and interaction
effectively. In this paper, we try to categorize and summarize the research
work on understanding of computational politics across different and
multidimensional platforms. We use the work done on the main sources for
political data: social networks, online forums, and political debates. The main
goal of this study is to classify different areas in computational politics and
summarize the prominent work at one place. We conclude this study by
highlighting the future research directions, opportunities, and challenges.
