Title: "A Survey of Intelligent User Interface for Augmented Reality"

by

Mr. Kit Yung LAM

Abstract:

The user interface is a critical factor for user experience in Augmented
Reality (AR). Recent researches on AR systems have developed many
intelligent user interfaces and the corresponding interaction techniques.
This work surveys the existing paradigms for intelligent and the
techniques applied to several popular AR Systems.

We explore how different intelligent user interfaces and interaction
techniques can contribute to productivity, efficiency and intuitivity of
human-computer interaction. We identify key interaction patterns that
interfaces for major AR scenarios should support.

We also identify the desirable properties of adaptation-based interface
techniques, which can be used to guide the design of the next-generation
AR workspaces.

Since certain intelligent interface paradigms and techniques can directly
conflict, there is a need for a comprehensive architecture acting as
"mediator". We summarize different AR system architectures on the user
interfaces and outline potential direction for future  architectures of
intelligent interfaces in AR.
