Title: "A Survey on Visual Analytics of Interaction on Visualization"

Abstract:

A key component of visualization research is how to evaluate the visualization
itself. However, the evaluation of visualization usually involves many aspects
and often requires researchers with rich research experience in a complete
visualization system. At present, the evaluation of visualization is limited to
empirical research. Therefore, researchers usually design complex experimental
schemes for specific visual systems, design experiment-related questions,
conduct user surveys, and evaluate the system according to the survey results.
It is not difficult to find that in this process, we need researchers to have
the ability to design specific experimental schemes and also need researchers
to conduct an accurate analysis of experimental results. The fact is that the
user feedback on the use of the visualization system goes through multiple
information transformations before it becomes the final evaluation, each of
which may be inaccurate. In addition, visualization systems themselves are
becoming more complex considering the increasingly complex data dimensions and
the extensive data scale, making it more difficult for us to evaluate the
visualization. However, with the improvement of the data acquisition scheme and
processing capacity, we can rely on the data exchange between the user and the
visualization system to capture the first-hand information of the user
directly. For example, users can use physiological sensors to capture
eye-tracking, electroencephalography, and log information captured by a
keyboard or mouse when interacting with their visual system. In addition, there
is users' personal unique information, such as the user's gender, age, visual
cognitive level, etc., which can help us conduct fundamental analysis.
Therefore, this survey mainly introduces how to use human-computer interaction
data to analyze and evaluate the visualization system.
