Abstract:

Image anomaly localization is to localize the anomalous regions within images 
and has wide applications in different fields such as industrial inspection and 
medical imaging. However, anomaly localization receives little attention 
compared to anomaly detection. In this survey, we give a comprehensive 
introduction to the learning-based image anomaly localization problem. 
Specifically, we introduce the anomaly localization problem and analyze the 
challenges first. Then, current methods are divided into five categories and 
reviewed respectively. Their limitations will also be analyzed. In the end, we 
conclude this survey by discussing several potential research opportunities.
