Abstract:

Machine learning and healthcare are currently two hot topics in both
research and industry. Medical image analysis is a research area where
machine learning interfaces with healthcare. In this talk, I will present
how we can apply machine learning algorithms to analyzing images of the
human body (for example, the heart and the brain) so that clinically
relevant information can be automatically extracted and used for diagnosis
or clinical research.

Biography:

Wenjia Bai received his D.Phil degree at University of Oxford, under the
supervision of Prof. Sir Michael Brady. His D.Phil thesis was on PET
imaging, which is an imaging modality used for cancer diagnosis. Then he
moved to Imperial College London, working as a Research Associate with
Prof. Daniel Rueckert. His research focuses on medical image analysis
using machine learning algorithms.
