Medical Artificial Intelligence: A Perspective of Tencent

This talk will give a brief overview of our work on medical image analysis and natural language processing (NLP). In medical image analysis, we focus on early screening of diseases, especially for cancers and eye diseases. In medical NLP, we are developing a system to guide a physician to effectively interact with patients to achieve accurate diagnosis. Last, I will present our medical large language model (LLM) and its applications in clinical practice. There are tremendous of challenges in applying AI in medicine and innovative technologies need to be developed to address these challenges. In this talk, besides of the overview of our lab, I will also present some of our recently published work in the above fields. ******************* Biography: Yefeng Zheng received B.E. and M.E. degrees from Tsinghua University in 1998 and 2001, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree from University of Maryland, College Park, USA in 2005. After graduation, he worked at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, New Jersey, USA on medical image analysis before joining Tencent in 2018. He is now a Distinguished Scientist and Director of Tencent Jarvis Research Center, leading the company's initiative on medical AI. He has published 300+ papers on top journals and conferences and invented 80+ US patents. His work has been cited more than 19,000 times with an h-index of 70. He is a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging.
