Course Objectives

  • To improve the communication skills of the students via small group interaction among a faculty advisor and students from across three years;
  • To allow students to get to know at least one faculty member in the department sufficiently well so that academic, and career advice can be sought readily;
  • To prepare students to take up internship, and placement positions;
  • To help students to understand the working environment via seminars given by industrialists, and experience sharing from alumni.

Course Requirements

In order to "pass" the course, you are required to

  1. attend the seminar this Wed. (Feb. 2) at 5:00 pm in LTA (Lecture Theatre A) (if you cannot make it this time, please inform Brenda at ); and
  2. attend at least 3 more seminars during the semester (in addition to the one on Feb 2). Please note that different seminars are targeted at different year students. However, you are welcome to attend any that interest you; and
  3. meet with your respective advisor at least once during the semester, according to the following schedule (faculty advisors may modify the schedule and the meeting format for their sections as they see fit).
