Ken Law is an HKUST alumni. He joined Google in Silicon Valley as the first group of interns and later became a full-time employee. While at Google, Ken developed a patented algorithm to find related pages. In 2007, when iPhone was not yet widely adopted and no Android devices even existed, Ken returned to Hong Kong and started MotherApp.

At this session, Ken will talk about the challenges he encountered along his career, and what have learnt throughout the journey. He will then give an overview of the mobile industry, the process of app development, and what a day in the app developer's life would be like.

Biography of the Speaker:

Ken Law witnessed firsthand that a company can make money and contribute to society at the same time. After earning his MS degree at Stanford, he joined Google as the first group of interns and became a full-time employee in 2000. While at Google, Ken developed a patented algorithm to find related pages. In 2007, Ken returned to Hong Kong and started MotherApp, which at that time the iPhone was not widely adopted and no Android devices even existed! It is MotherApp core belief that their work improve people's daily lives one app at a time, and they are working with leading companies such as BBC, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Bank of China Group Insurance.
