Interaction"

Abstract

Images are the most popular medium for quickly capturing our surrounding
3D world. As a result, image manipulation has become very popular and has
been studies intensively. The most natural and ideal approach to
manipulate an image is to mimic real-world experiences. However, images
are static and lack of important depth information about the underling
scenes.

In this project, we introduce a framework to support smart object-level
manipulation in the context of man-made environments wherein objects are
simple and regular. With minimal user interaction, our system calculates
the light position, camera parameters and decomposes an image into a
background layer and textured 3D proxies. It subsequently allows a large
amount of intuitive image manipulations simulating real-world behaviors.
We demonstrate our system on a variety of input images to test and verify
its robustness and effectiveness.
