Abstract:

As the development of drone for commercial and recreational use increases
dramatically in recent years, its growth has raised concerns about
potential applications in the aviation industry, with its lightweight and
highly automated features. A tailor-made drone of exceptional value is
presented for easing the difficulties encountered in traditional flight
inspection.

However, with limited payload capacity, calibration techniques should
apply in order to allow the drone to receive signals from the navigational
aids system. The key of this solution, which dynamically links to the
calibration software, can provide a low-cost yet accurate measurement of
the equipment performance. By hovering over the airport vicinity, it
enables users to examine the recorded signals from the equipment are in
compliance with international standards. Knowledge of data processing,
system integration and real-time positioning are required to build this
drone prototype.

The concept of this calibration drone is entirely in line with the
ultimate objective of a future flight checking tool.
