Dr. Wei WANG, Prof. Bo LI, CSE PG Students Received the Best Paper Runner Up Award of IEEE ICDCS 2021

At the 41st IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS 2021), the paper "Gillis: Serving Large Neural Networks in Serverless Functions with Automatic Model Partitioning", co-authored by Dr. Wei WANG, Prof. Bo LI, CSE PG students Minchen YU, Zhifeng JIANG, Hok Chun NG and Dr. Ruichuan CHEN from Nokia Bell Labs, received the Best Paper Runner Up Award.

Gillis presents a highly efficient prediction serving system that enables deploying large deep neural network models in the popular serverless computing platforms, such as AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions. It utilizes two novel model partitioning algorithms to accomplish latency-optimal and cost-optimal serving with SLO compliance respectively.

International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS) was launched by the IEEE Computer Society, is the oldest conference in the field of distributed computing systems in the world. This year, the conference has received over 489 submissions, of which 97 were accepted and 3 were nominated for the Best Paper Award. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ICDCS 2021 was held online on 7-10 July 2021.

Congratulations to Dr. Wang, Prof Li, Minchen, Zhifeng, Hok Chun and Dr. Chen!
