Student Ambassadors Program
School of Engineering, HKUST
The Student Ambassadors Program has been well received since it was launched in 2006 by the School of Engineering. We encourage you to apply for it and seek the chance to represent the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In the past, Student Ambassadors actively participated in different outreach and recruitment activities such as Outreach Day, High School visits, Innovation Expo, EAS Information Session and others.
Service Period
- 1 year
Duties
- Represent the department/school to promote engineering locally.
- Provide assistance in recruitment activities, e.g., outreach day, mass session, high school visits, EAS recruitment and others.
- Help lining up visits or sharing sessions with high schools.
Recognition & Benefits
- Attendance to a half-day training workshop provided by the School.
- Attendance to an inaugural ceremony.
- Will receive a certificate presented by the Dean of Engineering for the official appointment.
- Will be awarded a one-off compensation of $1,500 upon endorsement by the department and satisfactory completion of service. In addition to this award, departments will provide transportation allowance for each off-campus visit.
- Other benefits (may vary in different departments), e.g., posting of photos on the bulletin board, departmental training, reference letter.
Selection Criteria
Student Ambassadors are required to posess:
- A positive attitude to his/her experience with the University, the Department, the program and engineering in general
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Service-oriented mindset
- Good command of spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua)
- Strong sense of responsibility
A selection interviews will be conducted at the department level.
